Overview
This is a temporary visa. It is for skilled workers who want to live and work in regional Australia. Income earned should be consistent with the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) of AUD70,000 annually.
Duration and Conditions
- Stay in Australia for 5 years
- Live, work and study in a designated regional area of Australia
- Travel to and from Australia as many times as you want, while the visa is valid
- Apply for permanent residence after 3 years from the time your visa is granted
Eligibity Criteria
- Age :Be aged between 18 and 44 inclusive
- Language: Have Competent English or higher, and their dependent family members over 18 years of age have at least Functional English
- Assessment stage passed: Obtain a positive skill assessment in an occupation on the relevant Skilled occupation list
- Occupation: For State/Territory nominated applicants, this is the MLTSSL, the Short-Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) and the Regional Occupation List (ROL) and a State/Territory Occupations List
Meet the pass mark in the skilled migration points test – currently 65.
- Be invited by state or regional government: Lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the SkillSelect system, and be invited to apply
- Be nominated by a State or Territory Government, or have sponsorship from an eligible family member
- Meet health and character requirements
Conversion to Permanent Residency conditions
- hold an eligible visa for at least three years
- provide notices of assessment issued by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) for three income years out of the five years of your eligible visa. There is no minimum income requirement
- have complied with the conditions of the eligible visa you hold or have held.
